Iran's Supreme Leader Responds After Donald Trump Says He Sent Letter

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has indicated that he is unlikely to engage with the U.S. in negotiations, accusing the nation of being a "bullying" power and questioning if it upheld commitments from previous agreements.

President Donald Trump said on Friday that he had sent a letter to Khamenei asking for negotiations to be reopened to secure a nuclear deal, but the Iranian Mission told Newsweek that Iran had "not received such a letter so far."

Khamenei on Saturday addressed the matter while speaking at a tribute for former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

He said that Iran "will certainly not accept" the "expectations" of the U.S. and other Western leaders who use "bullying" tactics, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency.

"You say Iran has not fulfilled its nuclear commitments. Well, did you fulfill yours?" Khamenei challenged.
